This information is specific to the UK, as your app locates you there. To view the policy for another country, visit our Help Center in your browser.
Your fare is determined by several factors, including the type of vehicle chosen (metered fare or fixed fare), the distance travelled, the time taken, traffic conditions and market demand.
You can always find the fare details in the app's service section, and a comprehensive breakdown of the charges will be provided in the email invoice you receive after your trip is completed.
Please note that FREENOW may charge additional fees.
Black Cab - Metered fare
Black Cab fares are calculated by the in-car taximeter in real time. The price quoted on the app is only an estimation of the cost. The final fare can sometimes be more than this estimation due to unforeseen circumstances such as traffic, roadblocks, weather conditions, accidents etc.
Ride - Fixed-fare
Ride fares are offered upfront. The price you see when booking the trip is the price you'll pay. The price is based on your projected distance and any surcharges applied in the event of high demand.
The final fare can slightly vary if:
- You incur a waiting fee
- Your trip ends up being significantly longer than initially estimated
- You modified your destination & the distance is longer than the initial drop-off point (you'll always be asked to confirm the new fare before modifying the destination)
How does Fare Adjustment work?
In the case of PHV rides, FREENOW reserves the right to re-adjust the fare where the actual distance for the PHV trip exceeds the estimated distance by +30% or the duration of the PHV trip exceeds the initial estimate by more than 10 minutes.
This can be a consequence of events outside of FREENOW’s control such as traffic or accidents, among others. When a Fare Adjustment is applied, FREENOW will notify you via an in-app message of the new fare at the time of recalculation.
