Before starting your first moped trip, you must go through a simple process of validating your driver's license and identity document; as well as ensuring you have a valid payment method. We accept debit/credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay.
You can book a moped with your account or with the Freenow business account (only if Multimobility services are enabled).
Driver's License and Identity Document Validation
The process is guided and will be automatically reviewed and approved in a few minutes. For insurance reasons, we only accept the following:
- Type B driver's licenses in card format with a minimum of 1 year of validity issued by the European Union. We do not accept digital documents even if issued by the official DGT
- European ID cards / European passports / Residence permits with photo identification
For both cases, we cannot validate provisional documents, digital documents, NIE, or documents without photo identification.
Follow the steps below for your validation process:
- Click on 2-wheels and choose the scooter you want to rent
- Once in the selected vehicle menu, go to 'Add required documents'
- Fill in your 'Address' details
- In the 'Driver's License' and 'ID' tabs, select the issuing country, then take photos* of the front and back of your documents. Select "My license/ID is readable" or "Take a new photo" to repeat the process
- Take a selfie of your face. This allows us to verify it against the image on your documents. If you wear glasses, make sure your eyes are clearly visible
Once our partner Onfido has validated all your data, you will be notified and ready to start your rental.
*You must allow the Freenow app to access your camera. You can enable access from your mobile device settings.
