Legal and essential safety considerations
- Always fasten your seatbelt: it is a legal requirement. Not wearing it puts your life and that of other passengers at risk and can cause significant harm to the taxi driver.
- Keep your hands and body inside the car: never lean out of the window. You’ll be breaking the highway code and putting yourself at risk of serious injury.
- Respect the passenger limit: don’t ask the driver to carry more people than the car can accommodate. Carrying more passengers than the vehicle’s licence permits is illegal.
- Secure your luggage: and ensure that your bags and belongings do not obstruct the driver’s rear view.
- Be careful with the doors: always get in and out on the pavement side so as not to open the doors into oncoming traffic or towards cyclists.
Travelling with a child?
Although Polish law exempts taxis from the child car seat requirement, safety always comes first. We strongly encourage you to bring your own child seat for the ride.
Courtesy and respect towards the driver
- Minimise distractions: use headphones to listen to music, keep phone calls at a reasonable volume and avoid loud noises that might distract the driver.
- Keep the vehicle clean: avoid eating in the car, take care with uncovered drinks and don't leave any rubbish behind. Remember, it's your driver's workspace and livelihood.
- Be prepared: arrive on time at the pick-up point so that the driver does not have to double-park or block traffic.
- Be kind and considerate: a polite tone and respect for the vehicle and the taxi driver make the trip better for everyone.
