What if I don't have approved trips from TK?
You can still use Freenow for a medical trip, but you'll need to pay upfront and request reimbursement afterwards.
- If you paid in the app: download your invoice from the 'Trips' section of your profile.
- If you paid in the car: ask your driver for a printed receipt.
Whether your insurer reimburses you depends on your medical situation, your doctor's assessment and your insurer's own policies — not on Freenow.
Can I use promo codes or vouchers for approved medical trips?
No, promo codes and vouchers cannot be applied to approved medical trips. Because these fares are billed directly to Techniker Krankenkasse (or covered through statutory co-payments), promotional discounts cannot be combined with them.
How does the co-payment (Zuzahlung) work?
If you're not exempt from co-payments, you'll pay a standard fee of 10% of the fare (between €5 and €10) directly to your driver. At the end of your trip, the driver will let you know the exact amount, and you can pay in cash or by card in the vehicle.
If you are exempt from co-payments, you don't need to pay anything — your driver will already have this information. You can check your exemption status anytime in your Medical Profile.

Can I tip my driver through the app?
Not right now — the app doesn't currently support in-app tipping for these specific trips. However, you're always welcome to tip your driver directly using cash or card in the vehicle.
