What is the 'Deutschland Ticket'?
The Deutschland Ticket (D-Ticket) is a subscription valid for all public transportation, including the second class in regional trains (RE, RB, IRE, S-Bahn), and some IC and EC trains within Germany.
Deutschland Ticket costs €58.
It is not valid for EC long-distance trains, ICE high-speed trains, IC bus lines, or private rail companies like Flixtrain.

How long is the D-Ticket valid for?
It is only valid for the current calendar month in which the user has joined the subscription. This means that the D-Ticket is not valid for the following 30 days from the purchase but from the beginning to the end of the month.
The D-Ticket will be automatically renewed on a monthly basis unless cancelled. This can be done within the FREENOW app but must be done before the 10th of the month, otherwise, you will be charged for the subsequent month.
How to subscribe to the D-Ticket
- Open the FREENOW app and select 'Bus & Rail'
- Tap on 'Deutschland Ticket' on the 'Buy Tickets' tab
- Purchase the monthly subscription
- Access your D-Ticket in the 'My Tickets' tab (even when offline)
Important: The D-Ticket is non-refundable and non-transferable, and the subscription will renew monthly unless cancelled before the 25th of the current month.
When is the cost of the D-Ticket debit from my account?
The cost is collected a few days before the start of the next month using your registered payment method on the FREENOW app.
How to get an invoice for my D-Ticket subscription
Upon purchasing your D-Ticket, you will receive an invoice and a receipt via email. Please ensure that the email address associated with your FREENOW account is correct.
I am having trouble purchasing my D-ticket
Let's fix the issue:
- Update your app: Make sure you are using the latest version of the FREENOW app. Outdated versions may not display your D-Ticket correctly.
- Log out and log back in: If you used your Google or Apple account, log out and then log back in using the email option. Sometimes this simple switch can resolve the issue.
- Check the GPS settings: Ensure that your device's GPS is enabled and that the FREENOW app has permission to access your location. This is important to verify your eligibility for the D-Ticket.
- Location is crucial: The D-Ticket is only available in Germany. If you are abroad, it will not be displayed in the app.
How to cancel the D-Ticket subscription
You can cancel your D-Ticket subscription until the 10th of the last desired contract month:
- Open the FREENOW app and tap on 'Deutschland Ticket' at the button, or select 'Bus & Rail' > 'My tickets'
- Cancel the subscription and confirm your decision
If you want to renew the subscription again and purchase it, do it the same way you did the first time.
