All you need to know!
Since 14th September 2019, the European Union is enforcing a new directive that makes online payments more secure, called PSD2. We welcome this change as our priority is to keep all data safe and all transactions transparent, reliable and trustworthy.
The Central Bank of Ireland is in favour of a smooth transition period, this means that they are not enforcing it on every Bank as of now. Feel free to check with your bank about when they will start to enforce it.
Find out you what this means for you and the payment process with FREE NOW.
To fulfil the directive, we need to enable your bank to check your identity when you are using your credit card to hail a taxi. This identity check from your bank is called 3D Secure and will be required every few payments. This may make the payment process a little longer. There will be instructions for you to follow on your screen.
What do I need to do?
Your bank will ask you to prove that you are the cardholder. The bank-required identity check can occur in different ways.
When will my bank require an identity check?
You will be checked every few payments/online transactions and when you're registering a new credit card on the app. The frequency will depend on your banks policy.
This only affects credit card payments, cash payments are not affected.
What will happen?
What will happen? There will be a pop-up screen from your bank with clear instructions on how to pass the identity check.
Are you using your company’s business account?
Most business credit cards will not be affected. However, if an identity check is triggered during a trip and you can’t fulfil it, please contact the person administrating your company’s account. They will need to contact their bank. In the meantime, please switch to a different payment method.
