Having a credit or debit card on your account makes it even easier!
Rather than rummaging for cash or coins, just pay with a card and be on your way in an instant!
How do I do it?
If you haven’t got a card on your account already, it’s really easy to set one up!
- Visit your profile by tapping the profile icon in the top right corner of the main map screen.
- Tap Wallet, and then tap the + icon (in the top right again).
- Tap Credit Card, and then fill in the details of your credit or debit card.
- Once it's set up, you can choose to use your card instead of cash as the default option, and your fares will be paid in moments at the end of every journey.
Prepaid card payments now available
Add prepaid cards like Revolut as a payment option in the app today.
We encourage all passengers to use card payment when possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The first time you set up your card, we do a quick check to make sure it’s valid and to ensure you won’t have any difficulty using it on your next FREE NOW journey.
A pre-authorisation hold is a standard banking practice which places a temporary hold on funds when you add a payment method or request a trip with us. This allows the bank to confirm the payment method is valid and you have sufficient funds. This is becoming common practice for all companies who accept digital payment.
The actual charge for the fare will take place after you complete your trip. The total fare amount will take the place of the temporary hold on your bank statement.
